Artillery probably wouldn’t help a great deal. From the outer wall to the house was three hundred yards as the chamois leaps, and the best trebuchet the Lodge engineers could build from scratch on site had a range of two hundred, pitching incendiaries. If you used your artillery to pulverise the outer wall it wouldn’t help you close the range, since the gradient was so steep thereafter that there was nowhere an engine could stand and shoot without toppling over. Besides, by the time your artillery train had rumbled across the dusty plain, everybody worth killing would be long gone.
